Recruitment privacy notice
Last updated 14 August 2026
This notice explains what we do with the personal information you give us when you apply for a role at Tidal Cleaning Services. It covers job applicants only. If you are a customer, our main privacy policy applies to you instead.
Who we are
Tidal Cleaning Services Ltd is a company registered in the United Kingdom, and is the data controller for the information in your application. Because we are a UK company, UK GDPR applies to how we handle your information wherever in the world you live.
What we collect, and why
We collect only what we need to assess your application:
- Your name and contact details
- To identify your application and get back to you about it.
- Your city and province
- To confirm the role works for where you are based.
- Your answers about experience, availability and expected rate
- To assess you fairly against the role, and against other applicants, on the same questions.
- Your speed test result and details of your computer and backup arrangements
- The role is live customer calls from home, so we need to know the setup will support it.
- The link to your 60-second video
- Spoken English on live calls is the core of the job. We store the link you give us, not a copy of the video.
- How you found the role, and the advertising tags on the link you arrived through
- To learn which job boards send us suitable candidates, so we advertise in the right places.
- The date and time you applied
- To process applications in order and to know when the retention period ends.
We do not ask for, and do not want, your date of birth, marital status, government ID numbers, bank details or a photograph. Please do not send them. If we offer you a role, we will ask separately for what we need to pay you, and explain why at that point.
Our lawful basis
We process your application under legitimate interests: we have a genuine need to assess candidates in order to fill a role, and applying tells us you want to be assessed. Your consent, given by the checkbox on the form, covers us keeping your application and video link on file for the period below. You can withdraw that consent at any time by emailing us, and we will delete your application.
Your video
You record your video on a service of your choosing, such as Loom, Google Drive, YouTube or Vimeo, and give us the link. We store the link, not the video. The video stays on your account, under your control, and you can delete it or unshare it whenever you like. We would encourage you to do exactly that once your application is finished with.
The link is held in our internal recruitment system, which is accessible only to Tidal staff involved in hiring. We do not publish it, share it outside Tidal, or list it anywhere public.
How long we keep it
Six months from the date you apply. After that your application, your answers and your video link are deleted automatically from our systems. We do not keep a copy afterwards.
If we offer you a role and you accept, your information moves onto a different footing as part of working with us, and we will tell you about that separately at the time.
Who sees it
Only the Tidal staff involved in hiring for the role. We use a small number of service providers to run our systems, such as our website host, our email provider and the provider of the AI assistant that helps us summarise applications for the hiring team. They process the information on our instructions and are not permitted to use it for anything else. A summary produced by that assistant is a note for a human to read, and never the decision itself. Every application is reviewed by a person.
We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with other employers or recruiters.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask us to:
- give you a copy of the information we hold about you
- correct anything that is wrong
- delete your application, at any time and without giving a reason
- stop using your information while we look into a concern you have raised
- object to us processing it under legitimate interests
To do any of these, email careers@tidalcleaningservices.co.uk and say what you would like us to do. We will act within one month, and there is no charge. You do not need to explain yourself, and asking will never count against a live application.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first at careers@tidalcleaningservices.co.uk so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the UK's data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office, at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this notice
If we change how we handle applicant information we will update this page and change the date at the top. The version that applies to your application is the one that was published on the day you applied.
